What is this platform at its core?
It is a set of web technologies delivered through a web application, that any community of people can use to self-organize, communicate, collaborate. The key features are the ability to assign work effort based on actual skills, perform the necessary tasks to complete the effort, track the results of the completions, and most importantly make the results of their effort available to other communities in the platform, and to the public.
What kind of projects are allowed?
Any kind of project is allowed as along it meets our liberal Altruism Guideline. Our goal is to foster and encourage community collaboration that transcends traditional barriers.
What kind of skills are necessary?
The range of Effort listed on Organized Effort is not restricted, therefore all skills, skill levels and experience are encourage to participate. Any effort given is one which did not exist before, and that is clearly the building block for unilateral progress.
How do I use this platform?
Start by learning a little bit about the App areas in our Getting Started Guide, then finding Effort you can participate on. It is important to read the specific descriptions of Projects & Effort you might be interested in, and chat with Organizers in the #Prospects channel.
Do I need an account to participate?
Generally YES. You can complete some Effort items anonymously, if the Effort Organizers allow it, and if you have a direct link to that Effort. However most other functions require a simple account. Which is always FREE and easy to create.
